On Tuesday, our concert band, Beatz, performed for our Grade and Level 4 students. They showed off the versatility of their instruments and spoke about what they have learned at TPS.
Thank you Beatz!
Over the past two weeks, the students in Level 6 have worked very hard on writing new lyrics about Mrs. Fida from UE.
Once they completed the lyrics we came up with a plan to make a music video. They all came up with such wonderful ideas and helped bring in props to make the video shine!
We finished shooting the video on Thursday and finished editing it together with about 2 minutes to spare in the period!
Congratulations Level 6’s on such a wonderful tribute to your teacher, Mrs. Fida!
P.S – This was a ton of fun!

Dear rock Gods, please let us rock on today!!
Recently, North of the Border and the Arctic Circle (our schools rock bands) met at the school one Friday night. A new song would be born. Challenges with songs would be faced and overcome.
North of the Border’s challenge was to play a song that didn’t yet exist. Wait! You may be wondering why I just told you that they had to play a song that didn’t exist. Yes, you thought right – they wrote their own song and music.
The Arctic Circle had been playing the song Stiches by Shawn Mendes when Uh, Oh! Something was wrong. With the fact that Stiches wasn’t going as planned the group worked on finding a new song. They then encountered something new…. One of the microphones was playing the radio. With the microphone unplugged and a new one plugged in the kids were back to practice.
With hunger approaching the kids, pizza was served. With their stomachs packed with pizza they got back to practice and more practice. After even more practice, we got ready for a break to watch School of Rock – a hilarious film starring Jack Black. With laughs circling the room, the bands went back to the gym and portable to practice.
Lights Out!!! Except in the night, all of us may or may not have been ready for some McDonalds fries. Finally, done their fries, the kids slowly fell asleep one by one.
7 am wake up!! Hot Chocolate, Bagel, and fruit eat up kids we have practice. With North of the Border’s song completed including the epic vocals, drums, piano, bass, and guitar. They performed for The Arctic Circle, who LOVED the song. Arctic Circle worked hard on the duet Say Something and preformed for the other band who thought they did very well.
Performance time!!! All the kids got together to recreate School of Rock’s prayer to “the rock Gods” and asked to be able to rock today. Arctic Circle had their performance sitting on the stage and sang in duets. North of the Border played their original song and One Direction’s drag Me Down!
The kids had a great time together, had many laughs, and an all-around great time.
The students at Tall Pines School are really excited for the Jays!
Take a look:
Today, we as a school came together to celebrate the would be 75th birthday of John Lennon.
He was a great believer that music can bring people together for the greater good and today Tall Pines came together to celebrate.

Thank you students and staff for this wonderful celebration!
In our final weeks, the 6’s have created their own music videos.
They formed groups and decided on songs, created storyboards for their scenes and we created some fantastic music videos together!
