On Friday, April 7th Mrs. Motala brought in a few items which she cooks with at home on almost a daily basis. She placed methi a.k.a fenugreek, and coriander a.k.a cilantro seeds into clear plastic glasses in soil. She also explained to the children that as a vegetarian, she has to find plant sources which are high in protein. So she explained that lentils such as moong or chick peas can be boiled over the stove to make a soup or curry-like dish or they can be sprouted and eaten in salads. To demonstrate she brought in a special plastic vessel which she uses to sprout the moong lentils. She also placed a wet paper towel around inside of a jar and put in a few chick peas between the jar and the paper towel. The moong sprouts continued to sprout over the weekend and just look how quickly the methi/fenugreek grew! I guess we will have to wait a while longer for the coriander to grow.
