There are many skills to be developed through the exercise of “Show and Tell”. A child learns to speak in front of an audience and builds self-esteem. He or she also fosters relationships with others who relate to the item or experience being shared.
We will be resuming “Show and Tell” this week. Please help ensure that your child is bringing in something of interest, to share with the class. Some suggestions include:
– Item’s your child may collect (rocks, stamps, coins etc.)
– Pictures of family, events, or activities your child participates in
– Trophies, badges, ribbons or medals that your child may have been awarded
– Objects from nature
– Something your child made, such as a craft
– A book
– Please do not send toys
Please help your child prepare for “Show and Tell” by practicing his or her presentation in front of you or other family members, prior to bringing an item to school. The more prepared your child is, the more confidant he/she will be in front of the class. If you are unsure whether an item is acceptable, please do not hesitate to ask.
Some common questions Casa students like to ask are:
Where did you get it?
Who got it for you?
Where do you go for that class?
Do you like it?
What is that made of?
Where did you find that?
How much does that cost?
Who takes you there?
How did you make that?
Did somebody help you make that?
Your child may bring in an item once a week, any day of the week.
