Quebec ETA – 15 minutes from now
May 20, 2011We got through that long weekend traffic faster than we thought possible…
We’ll be there in a few minutes…so time to leave to pick up the kids!
See you all at the school!

We’re at the Border…
May 20, 2011Well we’re almost there…we’re in line at the border (Peace Bridge, Fort Erie). The second bus is right behind us…we’re expecting to arrive at TPS between 7:30 and 8:00.
I see from the Blog that the Quebec trip is expecting to arrive around 7:00.
I guess the question is…where is there more traffic? Across the top of Toronto (for the Quebec Trip) or coming from Niagara Falls?
Who will arrive first? No matter who does, I’ll be able to open the school when I get there…
See everyone in a short while…

Main Event Video from last night
May 20, 2011If anyone was having problems viewing last night’s video of the children, the problem has been resolved and the video is available.
We have just passed through Kingston (at 3:42 pm)

Estimated Arrivial for Washington Trip…
May 20, 2011As I look at the GPS mounted on the front window, it says we should arrive at Niagara Falls by 5:45…we’ve stopped for lunch already and only have a washroom break left before we come home…
Taking all of this into account, I would say we’re looking at arriving at the school by 8:00 or so…
Please check back around 6:00 and I’ll post when we cross the border.

Quebec – Final Breakfast
May 20, 2011We’ve just finished breaky, and have loaded the bus for the long ride home…dvds are loaded for the children; Mrs. Layne has her comfy blanket set up for a snooze, Mrs. Van Houten is getting her crocheting on; Mr. Zochil is working on pics and videos as usual (he doesn’t stop – but how amazing were his pics and videos? Seriously. Amazing. We’re ALL lucky to have him). So all that’s left for me to do is have a nap or two.
We’re all looking forward to arriving at school, but we’re even more looking forward to the part where you pick up your children and take them home! I joke of course, we loved having them (but then again, there’s always a bit of truth in every joke).
We haven’t yet mentioned our fearless tour leader Alex…she’s been running this whole show…making sure the children are excited, well fed, and most importantly, safe. She did an amazing job and the children will miss her dearly.
We’ll post our arrival time when we’re a little closer and have a decent estimate. Expect the next post around lunch time.

Our Last Day…so sad
May 20, 2011It was a perfect ending to a perfect day. I think we walked 5 miles today. We started out by visiting two of the most popular Smithsonian Museums – the Natural History Museum and Air and Space. They are soooo big…the Natural History Museum was incredible. We only had time to visit a fraction of the museums. The displays blow your mind.

After the Smithsonian, we went to the Holocaust Museum for a very emotional tour. The kids paid attention and read a lot of the displays. They asked good questions and I think have come away with a much better understanding of what the Holocaust was.
Finally it was time for the one building we had only glimpsed from the bus…it was time for the White House. The flag was up (which means the President was in his office) and we enjoyed the opportunity to take a few posed shots in front of the one building we all know..

After another really long day, it was time to walk in the foot steps of Martin Luther King and see the Lincoln Memorial…as it is best on display, at night…truly impressive…
